What is Garlic Parmesan Sauce Made of?

Garlic Parmesan as the name suggests, is just that, with the addition of melted, unsalted butter.

Some people prefer fresh garlic while other prefer garlic powder. Just by simply melting butter and adding minced garlic (or garlic powder), along with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Garlic and its Benefits

To get the most flavor out of garlic, use finely minced garlic for quick-cooking chunky dishes like pasta sauces and sautéed vegetables.

The taste and pungency of garlic shifts drastically as it cooks: the longer it cooks, the more mellow it becomes.

Use a sharp paring knife to make a series of horizontal cuts through the clove to thin garlic into even bits.

Create vertical cuts into the clove after that. By slicing down through the breadth of the clove, finish mincing.

In most dishes, this strong ingredient is needed to add an aroma and a depth of flavor at once.

How to Clean Chicken?

There are many people who debate cleaning chicken. According to Dr Oz, cleaning/washing chicken will produce and spread more bacteria across the kitchen. Jamaicans can attest that is not true. We have been using a variety of methods to clean our chicken, depending on what we have available in the kitchen.

Method 1

Lime and Cool Water

Method 2

Lemon and Cool Water

Method 3

White Vinegar and Cool Water

Method 4

Salt and Cool Water

Using any of the above methods, require you to soak the raw chicken for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water. During this process, you may use a small knife to get rid of unnecessary fat or any visible feathers that may have been overlooked in the butchering process.

After cleaning the chicken, and marinating, it is important to sanitize all areas. You may use bleach, soap or any all purpose and antibacterial cleaners to thoroughly wash and clean the area.

How long Should You Marinate Your Chicken?

Marinating chicken overnight is ideal. This will allow the chicken and all the added flavors to become one.

If you are running short on time, one tip is to stab each chicken piece using a knife or fork. This will allow the marinade to seep into the chicken faster but not as flavorful as marinating overnight. Allow the chicken to sit, covered, for at least 30 minutes before cooking.

Garlic Parmesan Wings

Crispy, Garlicy, Cheesy Wings

Ingredients

  • 24 Chicken Wings, Cleaned
  • 2 Teaspoon Pink Himalyan Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Flakes
  • 6 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • ¼ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add cleaned chicken wings, pink Himalayan salt, black pepper, paprika and chili flakes.
  2. Using your gloved hand or a large spoon, stir to combine all the spices into the chicken wings. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large, deep frying pan on medium high heat. You may test the oil by using a thermometer (325 degrees), or dipping a piece of chicken in the oil. If it bubbles, it is ready.
  4. Carefully add each chicken wing to the hot oil, one piece at a time.
  5. Ensure each piece of chicken wing has enough room to fry in the oil. Avoid overcrowding by frying in batches.
  6. Continue frying, turning the chicken wings with tongs, until both sides are golden brown. This should take 10-12 minutes based on the size of the chicken wings. As each piece is done, transfer it to the strainer. Once the chicken has drained, transfer it to a large bowl.
  7. Chicken is fully cooked at 165 degrees fahrenheit, internally.
  8. Repeat the process with the rest of chicken wings, ensuring to bring the oil back up to temperature before frying.
  9. Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the butter and chopped garlic and saute until the garlic becomes fragrant, about 90 seconds. Add fried chicken wings, stir to coat evenly with garlic butter. Remove from the heat, sprinkle grated parmesan cheese all over the wings
