Chef Marsha's Plantain Chips

Homemade Plantain Chips

Ingredients

1 Green Plantain, Peeled

Salt for Seasoning, Optional 

Oil for Frying

Yield 2 Servings

Prep Time 10 Minutes

Cooking Time 10 minutes

JAMAICAN PRESSED PLANTAIN RECIPE

 


Step 1    Using a sharp knife and cutting board or mandolin, slice green plantain paper thin, maybe ⅛th of an inch.

Step 2   Heat oil on medium heat, or use a deep fryer.   Step 3    Once oil is heated, drop a few pieces of plantains one by one, cooking for 10 seconds on each side. Remove from the oil, place on a paper towel to drain excess oil and immediately season with a sprinkle on salt.  Ensure not to overcrowd the oil to create an even fry. This will help the oil in maintaining proper temperature.   Step 4   Repeat the frying and seasoning process until all plantains are fried.       Serve with a dip of choice.          Leave a comment or suggestion below.
