Remove the steak from the package and place on a plate or a flat surface. Sprinkle the Jamaican all purpose seasoning and coarse black pepper on both sides and massage to evenly distribute the spices.
Set the seasoned steak aside for about 15 minutes or until the meat comes to room temperature.
Searing the Steak
Place the cast iron skillet on medium high heat and allow the pan the slightly smoke.
Add the cooking oil to the skillet, ensuring that the pan is evenly coated.
Sear the steak on both sides for 6 minutes each. Add the thyme, unsalted butter and garlic once flipped, after the first 6 minutes.
Remove the steak from the cast iron skillet and allow the meat to rest for 10 minutes before slicing or serving.
Pour the hot browned butter and garlic onto the steak after resting and slicing or servings.
